When the studio announced that the upcoming Frozen film is a sequel to the hit film, it didn’t have an official title.
“Frozen 2” was also supposed to be titled Frozen 3, but Disney executives wanted to use the Disney name to refer to the sequel instead of simply “Frosting the Snowman.”
Now, a new title has been unveiled.
Disney’s latest animated film, The Snowman, is going to be called Frozen 2.
In the new trailer, the title is changed to Frozen 3.
The Frozen 2 film, which opened in theaters May 6, 2016, has already grossed more than $3 billion worldwide.
The new title was revealed by the Walt Disney Animation Studios’ head of worldwide animation and live-action content, John Lasseter, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“We were hoping to use our brand name to signify the two-part film,” Lasseteter said.
“But Frozen was a very different experience and we wanted to create a new story for people to connect with.
So we thought, Why not use the name Frozen?”

“Elsa is still searching for her love, and the new family she built is now a family of its own,” Lassoeter said in the interview.
“Olaf and Sven are now two of the most recognizable characters in the world, but they’re also the true heroes of the story.
We wanted to bring them together to help the story continue.”
The new Frozen title was unveiled at a press event Thursday, and Lassette told reporters at the event that he and his team are “so excited about it.”
“We’ve spent a lot of time with our talented crew, and they’ve done such a wonderful job.
It’s been a blast to work on,” he said.
The Snowmen will be produced by Legendary Pictures, which also produced Disney’s previous film, Mulan.
The upcoming Frozen 2 is being co-produced by Legendary, Sony Pictures Animation, DreamWorks Animation, Walt Disney Studios Animation Studios and Marvel Studios.
Disney announced that Frozen 2 will be released in theaters on June 15, 2019.
The film is expected to make $300 million worldwide.
Lassetter also said that Frozen will have “a lot of the same [story] but more character.”
“It’s a very exciting story and we’re excited to tell it,” he told reporters.
“This will be a great way for our audiences to learn about a character they’re never going to see again.”
Disney released a teaser trailer for the film, titled The Snow King.
“There are more snowmen, and we have more people.
They’re not going to all be Frozen fans, but we do have a lot in common.
You know, we’re both princesses, and our families are all grown up,” Elsa says.
“And now it’s time for the snow to finally fall!”
